Who I am and why I write…
I am Irene Hill and I currently live in Southern Idaho with my husband, two children, four dogs, and seven chickens. My husband grew up in Wyoming and that is where we met and lived for several years. I love it there! I grew up with cowboys and strong women. I’ve worked a wide variety of jobs and met colorful characters along the way. All of this has inspired my writing.
I have enjoyed writing for most of my life. My great grandma gave me a journal for my sixth birthday, and I have been writing ever since. In the seventh grade our five-minute writing prompts in my English class were the best five minutes of my day. My honors English teacher my junior year of high school encouraged me to hone my creative writing skills. She believed in me and was the first person to tell me that I could be an author if I put my mind to it. Writing gives me an outlet and a place where my imaginary friends can play. My imagination is beyond active and getting my ideas on paper has always been fun for me. I have a degree in a health care field though, and just wrote for fun until 2019 when I met a group of indie authors who gave me the tools to finally finish a book I had been working on for almost ten years. With a lot of encouragement from my husband, and some extra time thanks to 2020, I published my first book in May 2020. Since then, I have published four more books with plans for two more in 2024.
